dc.description On behalf of the conference Organizing Committees, we are honored to welcome all participants to the 9th International Conference on Human System Interaction (HSI 2016), organized by University of Portsmouth and technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. HSI conference series has been one of the most important academic meetings in the field of interactions between human and systems. Previous events have been held in Kraków, Poland (2008), Catania, Italy (2009), Rzeszów, Poland (2010), Yokohama, Japan (2011), Perth, Australia (2012), Gdańsk, Poland (2013), Lisbon, Portugal (2014), Warsaw, Poland (2015). This year, HSI 2016 is held in Portsmouth, UK for the 9th gathering of researchers worldwide, which aims at sharing of individual expertise and presentation of technical innovation in human system interaction on both theories and practical insights. HSI 2016 is most successful this year in attracting a total of 82 submissions by researchers from 16 countries of their recent research and innovative ideas regarding the state-of-the-art development of human system interaction. The Program Committee undertook a rigorous review process for selecting the most deserving submissions. Despite the good quality of most submissions, a total of 71 papers (with an acceptance rate of 86.6%) were selected for publication and to be presented at the 9th International Conference on Human System Interaction on July 6-8, 2016 in Portsmouth, UK. We hope that the published papers of HSI 2016 will prove to be technically beneficial and constructive in the scientific community of human system interaction. We would like to express our sincere appreciation and acknowledgement to the attending authors and the distinguished plenary speakers. 71 presentations and 6 plenary talks are arranged in the conference program of HSI 2016. The innovative and inspiring plenary lectures are given by Prof. Feng Gao from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), Dr. Stephen Clark from University of Cambridge (UK), Prof. Tom Ziemke from University of Skövde (Sweden), Prof. Ehud Reiter from University of Aberdeen (UK), Prof. Shengyong Chen from Tianjin University of Technology (China), Prof. Milos Manic from Virginia Commonwealth University (USA). The dedication of all individuals who have supported HSI 2016 is deeply appreciated, mostly including all of the authors and participants. The success of the conference is also due to the Program Committee members and invited peer reviewers for their thorough review of all the submissions, to the Organizing Committee and volunteers for their diligent work. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Aleksander Malinowski and Prof. Andrés Augusto Nogueiras Meléndez for developing the conference management system and assisting corresponding tasks voluntarily, to the secretariat of HSI 2016, Mr. Dalin Zhou for his kind and prompt service to all participants. en_US
